About FOSDEM

FOSDEM is a not-for-profit organisation, relying on volunteers to help run free, non-commercial events. The focus of these events is to promote the use of Free and Open Source Software.

FOSDEM’s aim is to offer a space for developers to come together, created for the Free and Open Source Software community, by the Free and Open Source Software community.

About the event

FOSDEM has taken place in Brussels for over 20 years, the event took place on-line in 2021 and 2022 owing to the pandemic.  However, FOSDEM 2023 sees the event take place in ULB again.

This event offers the chance for developers to communicate with one another, be informed of the latest happenings within the Free and Open Source Software world, as well as extending opportunities to attend virtual talks and presentations by industry leaders.

Participation in FOSDEM 2023 is completely free, though donations and sponsorship are gratefully accepted by the organisers.

FOSDEM 2023 Web Shop

Every year, FOSDEM enables developers to secure crucial funding for their projects through selling merchandise at the event.

Over the last two years, postage has been challenging and some orders arrived very late so we decided to offer buy in advance and collect at the event using a click and collect service. This is in line with the principle that the T-shirts and hoodies are for people who attend.

The shop itself operates entirely on Open Source software, using Odoo Open Source Community Software.

This free-to-use software was set up and is operated by OpusVL, a UK-based Open Source company, to implement and then host the web shop, in collaboration with FOSDEM.
